Gmail

If you have a Gmail account, you can use it to send and receive your email, and use the virtually unlimited storage of your Gmail account to archive your mail.

To do this, you'll need to set up your Gmail account to retrieve your email from this server, and (optionally) to let you send from your domain email address instead of your gmail.com address.

Set up Gmail to retrieve your email from this server:

  1. Sign in to your Gmail account.

  2. Click the gear icon in the upper right and select "Settings", and then click on the "Accounts" tab.

  3. Under "Check mail from other accounts (using POP3)", click "Add a POP3 mail account you own".

  4. Enter your full email address and click "Next Step".

  5. Enter your full email address in the "Username" field, and the password for your email account.

  6. In the "POP Server" field, enter securemailserver.ca.

  7. Click the "Port" drop-down list and select 995.

  8. Check "Leave a copy of retrieved message on the server" if you don't want Gmail to delete the retrieved messages from your account on this server.

  9. Check "Always use a secure connection (SSL) when retrieving mail".

  10. You can check "Label incoming messages" to assist in filtering your domain email from your regular Gmail messages.

Gmail will now periodically check your account on this server and retrieve any new email.

Set up Gmail to let you send from your domain email address:

  1. Sign in to your Gmail account.

  2. Click the gear icon in the upper right and select "Settings", and then click on the "Accounts" tab.

  3. Under "Send mail as", click "Add another email address you own".

  4. Enter your full email address.

  5. Uncheck "Treat as an alias" and click "Next Step".

  6. In the "SMTP Server" field, enter securemailserver.ca.

  7. Enter your full email address in the "Username" field, and the password for your email account.

  8. Click "Add Account".

  9. Gmail will send a verification email to your domain email address to confirm that you own it. Open that email and click the link.

Gmail will now let you send mail from your domain email address. For more information, please read Gmail's help page on sending mail from a different address.
